George Phillip McKeegan is Of Counsel with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly. George is admitted to practice in New York.

George is a proud graduate of Fordham University with a B.A. in History, and received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

Over the course of his legal career, George tried over 40 cases in the New York State Supreme Court and Federal Court in both private practice and as an Assistant District Attorney in New York County.  George wrote and argued over 25 appeals before the Appellate Division – First Department and the New York Court of Appeals.  Outside of his work for defense litigation firms in New York, George was as Assistant District Attorney in New York County, serving in the investigative, trial, and appellate bureaus of the District Attorney’s office.  He also served as Vice-President of the Commercial Litigation Management in the Office of the General Counsel, and the Investigation and Potential Loss Department of the Audit Division at Citibank, and was Counsel for a corporation handling contracts, employment agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other legal issues for their officers and board.

George has co-authored books on aviation law and indemnification. A Handbook on Aviation Law, published by the American Bar Association in 2018, is a presentation of issues, cases, and arguments designed for judges, airlines, practitioners and insurers, and The Lowdown on Indemnity was published in 2019. He is rated AV-preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

Since joining Marks O’Neill, George brings his experience to the Casualty, Healthcare, Professional Liability, Construction and Transportation practice groups.
