John M. Schollaert is a Partner with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. He is also a member of the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia Bar Associations.
A Pittsburgh native, John graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, with a degree in legal studies and then went on to work as a paralegal focusing on insurance coverage litigation for environmental remediation. He then attended Duquesne Law School. During law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Board and worked as a contract paralegal supervisor for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania’s Asset Forfeiture Section. There, he was involved in the coordination of agents from the FBI, IRS, and U.S. Marshals to seize and forfeit proceeds from criminal enterprises in both civil and criminal actions and litigate various innocent owner claims.
Since joining Marks O’Neill, John’s legal practice has focused on defending various companies in asbestos litigation in numerous jurisdictions. He has handled asbestos cases in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. He has represented manufacturers of valves, pumps, refractories, suppliers and contractors. He has achieved dismissals and settlements in numerous cases and gained extensive trial experience.
Outside of the office, John enjoys spending time with his wife and four children who are very active in hockey, figure/synchronized skating and soccer.
