David Helwig is Of Counsel with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
He is also a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. David is also a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. David is a past chair of the Appellate Practice Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association, and he has been awarded an AV rating by Martindale Hubbell.
David graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Yale College in 1972. He then attended the University of Paris for one year. He attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, graduating in 1977. Upon graduation, David served as a law clerk to the Honorable Martin Wekselsman for the Court of Common Pleas for Allegheny County.
Since joining Marks O’Neill, David has represented clients in a number of areas. He focuses his practice in toxic tort, mass tort & product liability, environmental & regulatory, general litigation, premises liability & transportation, professional liability & healthcare and coverage, appellate, excess & reinsurance cases.
In his free time, David enjoys biking, skiing, and the outdoors. David lives with his wife in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh.
