John Kilkenny is Of Counsel with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly. He is admitted to practice in the New York State First Department, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. 

John graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with an A.B. in Political Science, and shortly thereafter entered the US Army to fulfill his military obligation. He later received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in the night division. During the four years of law school, John was simultaneously employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in a broad variety of functions.

Throughout his career, John has worked as an attorney at multiple global and litigation law firms.  He also spent 17 years as in-house defense counsel at Merrill Lynch. As Vice President, Senior Counsel at Merrill Lynch, John first chaired over 150 arbitrations/mediations.  John also worked as a Director of Complex Claims at AIG.  In all capacities, John has represented entities in a variety of complex legal matters, with a focus on litigation and financial services.

Since joining Marks O’Neill, John has represented clients in general litigation, premises liability and transportation, professional liability, construction accident and defect, coverage and professional liability matters.

Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren, listening to live music of every genre, reading, and traveling with his wife, Regina.
