Dani A. Wachtel is an Associate with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly’s Manhattan office. Dani is admitted to practice in New York, the Southern District of New York, and the Eastern District of New York.

Dani graduated from CUNY Hunter College in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Language, and Criticism. Dani graduated cum laude from Widener University Commonwealth Law School in 2020.

During law school Dani participated in moot court and was awarded The Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction, Excellence for the Future Award in Legal Methods III- Writing for Criminal Practice. Dani was a research assistant to Professor Christopher J. Robinette, focusing in the area of Tort law. Dani researched and co-authored “Raising Compulsory Automobile Insurance Minimum Amounts: A Case Study from the United States;” Insurance Review 2019 no. 4, 59, April 2019, and “Kentucky High Court Finds Medical Malpractice Review Panels Unconstitutional;” Insurance Journal, January 2019. During Dani’s 2L year she clerked for the Honorable Scott Arthur Evans in the Court of Common Pleas, Dauphin County.

Prior to joining Marks O’Neill, Dani was an Agency Attorney for the New York City Commission on Human Rights, where she led the agency’s Gender-Based Harassment Unit, investigating and prosecuting violations of the New York City Human Rights Law. While at the Commission Dani recovered the single largest pregnancy settlement the Commission has settled to date. Before joining the Commission, Dani was an associate attorney defending and providing counsel to clients in the home health care industry. She also focused her practice on complex regulatory, transactional, and employment matters. Dani researched, developed, and presented a one-hour webinar on sex and gender anti-discrimination standards and employer best practices to New York State providers, trade associations, and the State Department of Health. Before attending law school, Dani was the General Manager of several Biscuits & Bath locations where she excelled in leadership, operations, and management development.

Outside of law, Dani is passionate about Pilates, organic food, learning new recipes, and traveling.
