Michael Duggan is Of Counsel with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly’s Delaware office. He is admitted to practice in Delaware, The U.S. District Court of the District of Delaware and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is also a member of the Delaware Bar Association.
Michael graduated from the University of Delaware in 1981, with a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering. Later, he attended The Delaware Law School at Widener University, graduating in 1993 magna cum laude. During law school, Michael was awarded the American Jurisprudence Awards in Torts and Civil Procedure and a book prize in trust drafting and planning. While in the night program at law school, Michael continued to work as manager of a special accounting unit at Wilmington Trust Company. There, he was charged with periodic valuation of collateral as Trustee for a substantial book of asset back securities, while also acting as an internal analyst for technology and business practices. He also took on a part-time clerkship at a small law firm to add real ligation knowledge to his more formal education. Michael’s experience as a lawyer include trial work in all courts in Delaware, while working at several firms, and even for a short time in solo practice.
Since joining Marks O’Neill in 2010, Michael has represented clients in litigation of a variety of topic areas, but especially personal injury; from premises liability, through products liability, and including wrongful death. His practice involves significant work in bankruptcy matters for large corporations, as well as direct representation of insurance companies. Michael has extensive experience in professional liability matters and has maintained this topic area throughout his career.
Michael enjoys the informal study of history, including military history, is an avid reader of classic science fiction and tries to keep up with developments in science and technology.
