Karen M. Lager is Of Counsel with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly’s New York City office.  She is admitted to practice in New York (Eastern, Southern and Western District), Connecticut (District) and Florida.

Karen graduated from George Washington University in 2005, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She then attended Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law School, graduating in 2008.  During law school, she was the recipient of the Torts Book Award.

Prior to joining Marks O’Neill, Karen gained valuable experience as a summer associate in the legal department of a leading securities rating firm.  Additionally, as a summer associate in a boutique securities firm in Florida, Karen conducted a survey and tabulated research for an article published in the PIABA Bar Journal, Winter 2006 edition, evaluating the possible bias of industry arbitrators in three person arbitration panels.

Since joining Marks O’Neill in 2009, Karen has represented clients in both federal and state courts in the areas of professional malpractice, insurance coverage disputes, declaratory judgment actions, first amendment retaliation claims, products liability and general liability claims.  She has extensive experience defending professionals in actions brought by prior clients, banks and other individuals asserting causes of actions for malpractice, fraud, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duties.  She also has experience assisting and advising clients in responding to subpoenas in both state and federal courts.

In Karen’s free time, she enjoys working out, cooking, traveling and exploring New York City’s dining scene with her husband.
