Joel Maxwell is Of Counsel with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly’s New York City office. He is admitted to practice in New York State Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Joel graduated from Cornell University in 2001, with a Bachelor of Science. He attended Hofstra University School of Law, graduating in 2004. During law school he interned at a litigation firm and the New York City Law Department, where he gained valuable experience in analyzing documents, deposition preparation, conducting depositions and trial preparation.
Since joining Marks O’Neill in 2011, Joel has represented clients in diverse matters ranging from general liability, construction and labor law accidents, products liability, dram shop, construction defects, negligent misrepresentation and insurance coverage disputes. He focuses his practice on Labor Law §240 claims and representing owners and contractors in construction accident litigation. Joel has extensive experience in representing owners and contractors in complex Labor Law §240 actions through trial, including conducting depositions, legal research, trial preparation and jury selection.
In his free time, Joel enjoys playing ice hockey and playing with his two young children.
