Emily K. Silverstein is an Associate with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly’s Delaware office. She is admitted to practice in Delaware, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, U.S. District Court for Delaware and the U.S.Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She is also a member of Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the American Bar Associations.
Emily graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 2008, cum laude, with a degree in International Relations and Italian. Later, she attended Widener University School of Law graduating cum laude in 2011. During law school, she was awarded the Merit Scholarship for 2009-2010 and 2010-2011, and Certificate of Achievements, representing the highest score, in Legal Methods III, European Union Law and Advanced Corporations. Emily graded onto Delaware Journal of Corporate Law, the school’s flagship law review. She served as Articles Editor on the Board during her final year. During her third year of law school, Emily was a judicial extern for Vice Chancellor Joseph R. Slights, III while he was on the bench for the Superior Court of New Castle County, Delaware.
Prior to joining Marks O’Neill, Emily interned for Judge Calvin S. Scott, Jr., of the Superior Court of New Castle County, Delaware.
Since joining Marks O’Neill in 2012, Emily has represented clients in a multitude of areas, including employment law, municipality law, toxic tort, bankruptcy, professional liability and healthcare coverage and appellate practice. Emily represents mental health facilities in a variety of types of claims, including employment, professional liability and lost property. She has extensive experience with the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, obtaining appellate affirmation of the United States District Court rulings in employment, municipality, land-use and professional liability. She also has appellate experience in the Delaware Supreme Court, successfully defending against appeals in toxic tort and land-use claims.
Emily enjoys playing on the Delaware office’s joint softball team. She also enjoys traveling, extending her International Relations degree, and photography.
