Robert Fodera is Of Counsel with Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly.  He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Bob graduated from Pace University in 1988, with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He then attended Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, where he earned his master’s degree in public administration, in 1990. He also attended Rutgers Law School – Newark, graduating in 1997.

Bob is an experienced civil litigator and legal strategist who has defended the insureds of national insurance companies in various diverse and high-value complex claims from inception to trial and appeal. Bob has devoted more than two decades of practice to pursuing the claims of clients and defending them in various commercial, civil rights, employment, municipal, contract and regulatory disputes in state and federal courts. He has experience defending property owners, churches, long-term care facilities, nonprofit organizations, contractors, employers, police departments and municipalities. Bob has also spearheaded pre-litigation forensic investigations. Bob has successfully defended a contractor against an $80 million fire claim by a casino operator in Atlantic City and obtained numerous dismissals of actions through summary judgment, particularly in the areas of premises liability and charitable immunity.

Prior to joining Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly, Bob was Of Counsel to a national insurance defense law firm in central New Jersey. He also served as Litigation Counsel for GuideOne Insurance Company, representing its insureds in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Previously, Bob was a partner in a regional law firm where he devoted his practice to insurance defense. From 1991 to 1999, Bob held numerous senior positions in the New York City government.  He was responsible for initiating and managing innovative projects that improved and reengineered many of the City’s core services.

Since joining Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly, Bob focuses his practice in the areas of general liability, premises liability, transportation, and construction accidents. Bob has outstanding organizational proficiency and attention to detail, which is reflected in his proven ability to resolve matters in a methodical, cost-effective and practical way. 

Outside of work, Bob serves as the Vice President of the Consistory of his Church, is the Charter Organization Representative for a local Boy Scout troop, enjoys traveling, sports, scuba diving, music and interfering in the lives of his three adult children.
